Bicycle trail extension

Bikers and walkers will soon have more ground to cover in the West Metro.  The Dakota Rail Trail is expanding.  It starts in Wayzata and goes 13.5 miles into St. Bonifacius.  The trail along the Dakota Rail line opened for recreational use last summer.

This summer it is expanding.  Carver County Parks Director, Martin Walsh says they are extending the trail from St. Bonifacius to Mayer.  This will add about 6 miles to the bike path.  Construction started in April and it should be completed by the end of December.  The extension was part of the original plan.  The next phase of the plan will take the trail about 6 more miles, into New Germany.
